Selar Communities lets you create a dedicated space where you can bring your members together, share content, host conversations, organise events, and offer different levels of access through membership tiers. You can create spaces for different topics, publish posts, chat with members, schedule events, and manage your community and members from one dashboard.
This guide walks you through how to set up and manage your community on Selar.
Creating Your Community Product
From your Selar dashboard, click the hamburger icon to open the menu.
Select Products, then click Add Product.
From the product type options, select Communities.
This will take you to the product details page, where you can enter the basic information for your community.
Under Product Details, fill in the following:
Images — Upload an image for your community. Your image should be at least 300×300 pixels. A square image is recommended.
Name of product — Enter the name of your community.
Price — Set the price members will pay to join your community.
Allow users pay what they want — Enable this option if you want members to be able to pay the set price or choose to pay a higher amount.
By default, you set your price in your local currency, and Selar automatically converts the amount to other currencies on your store page. If you want to set a fixed price for another currency, such as USD, you can enable this option from your Currency Settings.
Under Selar Discovery, you can categorise your community using Selar's predefined categories.
Adding a category can help with search engine optimisation (SEO) and make it easier for people to discover your community through Selar's Affiliate Network.
Select a Category and Sub-category that best describe your community.
If your community has multiple options, such as different tiers or packages, you can enable This product has multiple variants.
You can also configure additional product settings using the options available on the page, including:
Upsells & Cross-sells
Advanced Options
Customise URL
Image
Reviews
Custom Checkout Form
Under Product Type, confirm that Community is selected.
You can then create the subscription options members can choose from.
For each subscription tier, you can set:
Tier Name
Interval — For example, Monthly.
Amount — The amount members will be charged.
Number of times the customer will be charged after their first payment — Set this to 0 if you want the subscription to continue until the member cancels.
You can create additional subscription intervals as needed. More options for managing your community are available from the community dashboard.
You can also create a custom category to organise your community on your store page.
Select an existing category or create a custom one to help segment your products on your store.
You can also enable Automatically redirect the buyer to an external URL after a purchase if you want buyers to be redirected to another URL after completing their purchase.
Once you've entered the required information, click Save.
After saving your community product, click Manage Community in the top right corner to open your community dashboard.
